Car-Free Fifth Avenue is a lovely opportunity for a holiday walk through Midtown. You can wander along the closed roadway and enjoy a different view of the festive street.
Previous editions have featured live music and shopping pop-ups. The program and pedestrianized section are announced for each season, so leave yourself some time to explore rather than rushing through.
Good to know
Wear comfortable shoes and give yourself time to wander. I’d put the phone away for part of the walk and simply enjoy being there.
Car-free doesn’t necessarily mean uncrowded. If you’re visiting with others, agree on a meeting point in case you lose sight of each other.
