Kenny Scharf turns Rockefeller Center into a playful Pop Surrealist world with a giant inflatable, dancing sculptures, murals, and more than 100 flags.
What to expect
The centerpiece of Scary and the Dancers! is Scary, a 34-foot inflatable in Center Plaza. Six colorful figures inspired by air dancers move around it, while artist-designed flags bring Scharf’s bright characters across the campus.
The exhibition continues inside several Rockefeller Center lobbies with murals, sculptures, and an installation inspired by Scharf’s Cosmic Cavern. It is an easy art stop to combine with Top of the Rock or a Midtown walk.
Good to know
- The art is spread across Center Plaza and the lobbies of 10, 30, 45, and 50 Rockefeller Plaza.
