The Rockettes, their perfectly synchronized kicklines, and Santa on the same stage: the Christmas Spectacular has been a holiday tradition at Radio City Music Hall since 1933.
What to expect
The Rockettes are the stars of the show. When the dancers line up and kick their legs at exactly the same moment, you’re watching the precision kicklines they’re known for. Rather than following one continuous musical storyline, the show moves through a series of Christmas scenes.
These include classics such as the “Parade of the Wooden Soldiers,” with the Rockettes dressed as toy soldiers, and the “Living Nativity,” a retelling of the Christmas story. Ballet, ice skaters, and Santa are part of the show, too. Digital projections and modern stage technology sit alongside the traditional numbers.
The Christmas Spectacular usually runs from early November into early January. Many dates have several performances, so you can fit it into your plans during the day as well as in the evening. Compare a few dates and times before booking: prices depend on the performance as well as the seat.
Good to know
- The show runs for 90 minutes with no intermission.
- Plan to arrive about an hour before the show. That’s when doors open, giving you time for security, finding your seat and exploring the iconic venue.
- I particularly like sitting in the Mezzanine: you can see the Rockettes’ formations from above while taking in the architecture of Radio City Music Hall.
- Photography and filming are not allowed during the performance.
- The show uses loud sounds, flashing lights, and other special effects. Keep that in mind if you or your children are sensitive to them.
- No performances on November 9 or 16, 2026.
