In summer, you can swim for free at the Gottesman Pool at the Davis Center, at the northern end of Central Park. Here’s what to bring and which rules to know before visiting.
Good to know
Important: Bring a lock to use the lockers. Changing rooms and restrooms are also available on site.
Electronic devices, glass bottles, newspapers, and food are not allowed. Swimwear is required. If you want to wear a T-shirt over it, it must be plain white. Six lifeguards are stationed around the pool.
Swim for free in Central Park
You’ll find the pool at the Davis Center at the northern end of the park, roughly level with 107th Street. It is about 1.10 meters deep and accessible, and there is also a splash pad for children.
The pool can accommodate 1,000 swimmers, and no tickets are required. However, the line can get very long on hot days. When that happens, swimming time may be limited to give others a chance to cool off.
During the summer season, the pool is open daily from 11 AM-7 PM, with a cleaning break from 3 PM-4 PM. Check the current season dates before visiting.
