Bryant Park Movie Nights are a huge summer highlight. For you, that means free movies with a spectacular backdrop right in the middle of New York.
What to expect
Every year, Paramount+ and Bryant Park team up to host the popular Movie Nights. This free outdoor movie series has been taking place in the beloved park for more than 30 years.
The movie nights take place during the summer months and feature many famous films. In past years, the lineup has included movies like Indiana Jones and Star Trek.
Like almost everything in Bryant Park, the event is free for all visitors. That is why the movie nights are extremely popular with both New Yorkers and visitors. It is a great experience to add to your travel list if you are here at the right time.
The 2026 program has not been announced yet.
Good to know
- Arrive early: The lawn opens 3 hours before the movie starts. The front spots fill up within minutes. If you want a good spot, you should arrive before 5 PM. If you are fine sitting on the side or farther back, you can stop by later.
- Enjoy the Empire State Building view at the same time: If you sit toward the front right, you can also enjoy the view of the Empire State Building.
- Bring a blanket or towel to sit on: The front area is reserved for picnics. Otherwise, you can also use the bistro chairs. Blankets cannot be plastic.
- Bring food and drinks: You are allowed to bring your own food and drinks. If you do not have anything with you, you can buy snacks on site from the many stands. Note: Alcohol, smoking, and vaping are not allowed.
- Use the restroom before the movie starts so you do not miss any good moments. Bryant Park has some of the nicest public restrooms in New York, but during Movie Nights the line can be very long.
- Keep an eye on the weather. Open-air events in Bryant Park depend on the forecast. To stay updated, check Bryant Park's Instagram Stories at @bryantparknyc. If the start is delayed or the event is canceled, you will usually find out there first.
