The Empire State Building’s tower lights move to Christmas music during its holiday light show. You can watch from outside for free.
What to expect
The music-to-light show turns the building’s upper floors and spire into a changing display of color. Unlike a show at street level, you watch it from a distance, with the tower in view. The holiday program and music can change from year to year.
Good to know
- Choose a spot with a clear view of the tower; standing directly below the building is less useful.
- You do not need an observatory ticket to watch the exterior light show.
- Check the Empire State Building’s announcement for the accompanying radio broadcast or music stream.
