Read on the Lawn Day is a relaxed outdoor reading party on the Bryant Park lawn.
What to expect
To celebrate the opening of the Bryant Park Reading Room season, Bryant Park hosts Read on the Lawn Day in partnership with Reading Rhythms. The event turns the iconic lawn into a shared open-air reading space in the middle of Midtown Manhattan.
You can bring any book you like. The evening includes quiet reading sessions set to ambient music, plus guided moments for one-on-one conversations and group discussions with other readers nearby.
Read on the Lawn Day also kicks off Bryant Park’s free literary season, which usually includes author panels, poetry readings, writing workshops, quiet reading sessions, and the open-air Reading Room with books, newspapers, and magazines you can read for free.
It is a nice option if you want something social but still calm: less performance, more blanket-on-the-lawn, book-in-hand, city-around-you energy.
