Finding calm in the middle of Times Square? Yep! Summer solstice yoga classes take place right here in the middle of all the hustle and bustle. It is hard to imagine a stronger contrast.
What to expect
On the longest day of the year, the Times Square Alliance hosts “Mind Over Madness Yoga” every year. The event is basically the calm counterpart to New Year’s Eve in Times Square. Instead of countdowns and confetti, it is all about breathing, sun salutations, and focus.
Free yoga classes take place throughout the day on the Broadway pedestrian plazas. Whether you are an experienced yogi or stepping onto the mat for the first time, everyone is welcome.
That contrast is exactly what makes it so special: you are moving through a quiet yoga session while LED billboards glow, taxis honk, and the city pulses around you. It is this feeling of calm in the middle of chaos that makes the event so iconic.

- Note: It can get very hot during the day. Morning or evening classes are usually more comfortable than practicing in the midday sun.
