What are you wishing for in the new year?
What to expect
At the Wishing Wall, you write your New Year’s wish on a piece of confetti. But it doesn’t just stay on a wall: at midnight on New Year’s Eve, it floats down over Times Square along with other people’s wishes. So you can leave a little something behind for the celebration, even if you’re already back home by then.
More than a ton of confetti falls in total. And here’s a detail you might not expect: it’s actually tossed by hand.
The outdoor Wishing Wall is on the pedestrian plazas in Times Square in December.
Visiting at another time of year? You can also submit your wish year-round at One Times Square. There, the Wishing Wall is part of the paid Times Travel experience, separate from the free outdoor installation.
Good to know
- Taking part at the outdoor Wishing Wall is free.
- You can also submit your wish through the virtual Wishing Wall on the official website. The deadline for New Year’s Eve 2026/27 is December 29. Wishes submitted after the cutoff may be included in the following year’s celebration instead.
