Halloween costume inspiration, courtesy of New York’s dogs: at the Tompkins Square Halloween Dog Parade, the outfits are as much a reason to watch as the dogs wearing them.
What to expect
The parade takes place in the East Village and includes a costume contest and a festival block. You don’t need your own dog to come along and watch.
Despite the name, don’t head straight into Tompkins Square Park: the organizers announce the route and spectator locations separately.

- Watching is free.
- To march with your dog, you need to register in advance. Registration for 2026 opens September 25 at 12 PM New York time. Places are allocated in registration order.
